Travel Safety Tips

Although COVID-19 has moved from a pandemic to an endemic phase, we still encourage you to consider safety before committing to attend Mitochondrial Medicine 2024.  We once again plan to offer ribbons to indicate comfort level regarding social interaction/distancing.

At this time, we are not requiring attendees to attest to being vaccinated. Although COVID cases are lower, most mitochondrial clinicians will still say to use common sense and only travel to UMDF Mitochondrial Medicine 2024 if:

  • You are vaccinated and boosted.
  • You wear a mask in all public places and within crowds.
  • You continue rigorous hand hygiene.
  • You practice social distancing.

Refer to the CDC Guidelines for Travel to Large Gatherings >>

If you are an affected adult or your child is affected, prepare for travel as you would any time there are potential health risks.

Air Travel and Hotel

For those traveling long distances by air, while you can be masked the entire flight many passengers will not be masked at all.

While UMDF encourages all attendees to follow best health practices and protocols, there may be other events at the hotel where attendees do not. UMDF will have no control over outside meeting attendees.

If you are an affected adult or your child is affected, prepare for travel as you would any time there is a potential health risk.

Traveling Tips

Before leaving, make sure to read the below UMDF traveling tips for patients:

  • Mito Travel Guide – reminders on managing care, packing and flying.
